The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has extended the ongoing summer holidays for educational institutions located in the region’s summer zone.
Under the revised schedule, schools and other educational institutions will remain closed from August 10 to August 13, 2026. The extension covers both government and private institutions operating in the summer zone.
Schools to Remain Closed Until August 13
The Education Department announced the extension through a notification issued by the Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Students will therefore get four additional days away from regular classes. Educational activities are expected to restart after the extended holiday period, although any further reopening instructions will be communicated by the department.

Parents Asked to Follow Official Updates
Parents and students are advised to trust official notifications for information on the reopening of schools and should not depend on any information from the Education Department.
This will be especially important if any further instructions are given prior to Aug. 13. There should be no social media posts or unofficial messages as the final confirmation regarding when the school is to reopen.
What Students Should Know
For now, students in AJK’s summer zone should remain aware that educational institutions are scheduled to stay closed through August 13, 2026.
Parents and students should check further announcements from the AJK Education Department or their respective institutions before returning to school.
