Abstract<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Digitalisation and the gig economy play crucial roles in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8) by promoting full employment and sustainable economic growth. The gig economy\u2019s prominence is emphasised by the ease of connecting job seekers and providers through cost-effective and flexible digital platforms. While developed countries have significantly embraced integrated digital technology, Pakistan is yet to tap into its potential. This research not only examines the disconnect between evolving digital landscapes and escalating unemployment but also investigates challenges faced by freelancers, entrepreneurs, and influencers, while evaluating gig economy prospects and aligning international trends with the Pakistani context. With a youth bulge of 64 per cent, the initiative aims to achieve sustainable economic growth by empowering youth through media digital literacy and communication strategies. Proposing the gig economy as a catalyst for job creation, especially within the private sector, this policy paper advocates for leveraging international trends to empower youth through media digital literacy and communication strategies. By implementing recommended policy measures, Pakistan can not only address unemployment but also strengthen its efforts towards sustainable socioeconomic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
