Punjab Medical Faculty Exam System to Shift to MCQs From December

The Punjab Medical Faculty (PMF) is changing the way its annual examinations are conducted. From December 2026, PMF annual exams will move to a fully multiple-choice question (MCQ) format.

Under the new system, candidates will answer MCQs on specially prepared answer sheets, which will then be checked using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) technology.

How the New PMF Exam System Will Work

Instead of lengthy written answers, students will select the correct option for each question on the answer sheet.

The completed sheets will be processed through OMR machines. This will allow a large number of answer sheets to be checked through an automated system rather than relying entirely on manual checking.

Why PMF Is Introducing OMR Checking

The new system is aimed at expediting and streamlining the exam procedure, according to the Punjab Medical Faculty.

Automated checking can also help to limit errors that can occur during manual checking. The checking procedure has been made more systematic, which will enable PMF to check and announce the results more efficiently.

The most significant alteration for students will be how they record their answers during the examination process.

What Students Should Know

All students who are taking up the annual exams of the Punjab Medical Faculty for the coming academic year should read and understand the format of MCQ papers and study the marking scheme to be followed in their Exam papers and Answer sheets.

The new system will be applicable for the annual examination of PMF from December 2026 onwards, according to the information provided by PMF officials.

After the faculty announces them, the diligence of the examination procedure, the pattern of the paper and the answer keys of the OMR should be followed in a detailed manner.
