Karachi Colleges Set Academic Calendar for 2026-27

Government colleges in Karachi will follow a new academic and co-curricular calendar for the 2026-27 session, giving institutions a planned schedule for studies, examinations and student activities throughout the year.

The calendar has been issued by the Regional Directorate of Colleges Karachi and brings academic work together with activities outside the classroom.

What the New College Calendar Covers

The schedule includes much more than regular classes.

It includes processes that enable students to gain admission to a university and prepare for examinations, sport, literary and cultural programs, seminars, workshops, career guidance and awareness activities. Its purpose is to provide colleges with a better guide for conducting these activities throughout the school year.

The calendar also highlights skills that students can apply outside of class—such as communication, teamwork, leadership and civic responsibility.

Mid-Term Exams Planned for October

According to the schedule, mid-term examinations will take place in October 2026.

The papers will cover the portion of the syllabus taught up to that stage. College administrations, principals and teaching staff will be responsible for arranging and conducting the examinations.

For students, the mid-term exams will provide an early assessment of their progress during the new academic session.

BS Admissions to Begin in November

Students interested in undergraduate studies will also have an important date later in the year.

The BS admission process is scheduled to begin during the final week of November 2026. The schedule is expected to give students an opportunity to move from intermediate-level education into degree programmes.

Students should still follow the individual college or university admission notice for exact programme requirements and deadlines.

Examination Schedule Continues Into 2027

The academic year will remain busy after the winter period.

Intermediate preliminary examinations are scheduled for March 2027, while academic and co-curricular activities will continue during April.

The final board examinations are scheduled for May 2027, subject to the examination schedules issued by the respective boards.

Practical examinations will then be held during June and July 2027.

Why the Calendar Matters for Students

The new calendar will be used to provide students with a better understanding of the progression of the academic year.

In addition to admissions and examinations, colleges will have room for sports activities, cultural programmes, workshops and career related activities. This can help students develop skills that can be applied in higher education and the workplace.

The idea behind this is to unite academic and co-curricular education instead of considering them as two distinct domains, Regional Director Colleges Karachi Gulab Rai said.
