Abstract
The Two Nation theory is the root of conflict between India and Pakistan, a concept which emerged with the birth if Islam in the Subcontinent. The independence was marked by violence including mass massacres, looting etc. The forceful annexation of Kashmir further deteriorated the relations between the two. The states have since then, fought 3 wars, two of them over Kashmir. The interference of superpowers in the region further complicated the relations. The mistrust between the two led to a conventional arms race, which soon converted into a nuclear race, and the region since has been a highly volatile one. Any future conflict between the two could result in a nuclear war. The Parliament attack in December 2001 sought nearer to a possible conflict. The Mumbai attacks in 2008 were again blamed on Pakistan. The Pakistan India relations have never been a good one. Their rivalry has not only culminated on political and military forum, but is affecting every segment of society in the whole world, and is hence a dilemma for the whole world to solve.
