Abstract
Since 1995, the BJP has been the majority party. Narendra Modi was elected chief minister for the first time on October 1, 2001, and has held the position ever since. Despite the fact that Modi is a member of one of the most major mainstream political parties, the Gujarat election has been fully dominated by political personality cults, and Modi is a cult in the state. Gujarat has grown economically under his leadership, becoming one of India’s economic powerhouses. Modi now portrays himself as the face of a democratic and prosperous India. Modi won a third consecutive state election on December 20, 2012. Modi is Gujarat’s longest-serving chief minister. Not only does a large section of civil society and The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters regard him as India’s next prime minister, but the European Union has ended its decade-long accusations and boycott of Modi on the grounds that there is no clear evidence of his involvement in the 2002 Gurjarat genocide. The article seeks to investigate the causes behind Modi’s third consecutive victory, including an examination of Gujarat’s economic growth and development under his reign, as well as the future prospects of Modi becoming Prime Minister. It will also focus on the Muslim community’s role in the election. It is also critical to comprehend the reasons for the Indian National Congress’s dismal performance in Gujarat. In addition, the paper also analyzes the effect of the latest elections on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
