Abstract
Economic links between China and the United States were established in the 1980s. The interactions have also resulted in the emergence of controversial issues throughout the years, owing in part to the fact that the Chinese economy is undergoing reform and in part to the amazing but unpredictable expansion of economic ties. Thus, Sino-US economic relations were presented with a slew of unanswered problems. The ties formed through bilateral trade improve their mutual reliance. The current era’s Sino-US interdependence has an impact on the other regional countries. Chinese capital investments have contributed to the United States’ low interest rates and served as a source of capital for Western institutions. Following 9/11, both the United States and China took advantage of the chance to enhance bilateral relations. Sino-US trade volume continues to rise fast in economic and trade terms. The joint committee on business and trade’s consultation mechanism has played a significant role in keeping economic friction between the two countries from turning into a “trade war.” In many areas, the United States has more common interests than differences. The expanding Chinese market has been a big draw for the United States in terms of supporting domestic economic growth. With its low cost of land and labour, China has proven to be an appealing industrial location for American enterprises.Hence, this paper focuses on the economic relations between China and US from 1980 to 2002, and explains why they are at each others throats in the contemporary times.
